Product Description

Methyl-isobutyl ketone, 4-methyl-2-pentanone. Colorless liquid with pleasant odor. It's stable. Slightly soluble in water and most organic solvents. Steam forms an explosive mixture with air. With strong local irritation and toxicity. It is commonly used as solvent (for dissolving tetracycline, pyrethrin and DDT, as well as for oil dewaxing, etc.), inorganic salt separation agent, mineral dressing agent, binder, rubber glue, cloth paint and organic synthetic raw materials, etc. A developing solvent for PMMA in electron beam lithography.

Application

1.4-Methyl-2-pentanone, also known as methyl isobutyl ketones, is an intermediate for rodenticide rats.

2. Used as an intermediate for medicines and dyes. The pesticides produced with o-chlorobenzaldehyde can prevent the aphids on dry crops and fruit trees. O-chlorobenzaldehyde oxime can be obtained as o-chlorobenzidine, and further chlorination can obtain o-chlorobenzidine, which are all pharmaceutical intermediates.

3. A solvent such as nitrocelluloses, resin, or gum. An extractant for certain inorganic salts. Organic Synthesis

4. Used as a chromatographic standard, solvent and extractant

5. Used as a solvent and also as a dewaxing agent for lubricating oils.
