1. The main use of isobutanol is to produce isobutyl acetate, a compound mainly used in the production of lacquers and similar coatings, and also as a food flavoring agent.
2. Isobutanol is also used in the industrial synthesis of isobutyl esters, for example, diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) is used as a plasticizer for rubber and plastics.
3. Other applications of isobutanol include solvents for paints, inks, etc., and cleaning agents for varnishes. Adding a small amount of isobutanol to the paint can reduce the viscosity of the paint, increase the brush flow, and hinder the formation of petroleum residues on the surface of the painted part.
