Adipic acid is a raw material for nylon 66 and engineering plastics. Used as a plasticizer and advanced lubricant. Adipic acid is also used as a raw material for polyurethane elastomers and as an acidulant in various foods and beverages, sometimes outperforming citric and tartaric acids. Adipic acid is also a raw material for yeast purification, pesticides, adhesives, synthetic leather, synthetic dyes and fragrances.
