Dichloromethane, also known as dichloroalkane or methyl chloroform, abbreviated as DCM, is an organic compound that is colorless and has a pungent odor similar to ethers. Its chemical formula is CH2Cl2. This compound is formed by replacing two hydrogen atoms in methane (CH4) with chlorine atoms. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, and is an incombustible low-boiling-point solvent under normal usage conditions. When its vapor reaches a high concentration in the air at high temperatures, it will generate a weakly burning mixture gas [1]. It is often used as a substitute for flammable petroleum ether, ether, etc. [2].
