Propylene carbonate(PC) CAS 108-32-7 is an organic compound with the formula CH3C2H3O2CO. It is a carbonate ester derived from propylene glycol. This colorless and odorless liquid is useful as a polar, aprotic solvent. Propylene carbonate is chiral but is used exclusively as the racemic mixture. It is soluble in water and carbon tetrachloride, and ethyl ether, chloroform, acetone, benzene and other immiscible. It is a good solvent polarity. Melting point is -48.8°C.

1.Used as solvent for synthetic fibers and other polymers, as extractant, plasticizer, etc.
2.In the electronics industry, it can be used as an excellent medium for high-energy batteries and capacitors.
3.Polymer industry can be used as solvent and plasticizer polymer.  Used as a plasticizer for adhesives and sealants.  It can also be used as dispersing agent of phenolic resin curing accelerator and pigment filler of water-soluble adhesive. 
4.Chemical industry is the main raw material for the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate and can also be used to remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and petroleum cracking gas.
